Discover Marana

EVER-CHANGING MARANA HAS BEEN AROUND FOR CENTURIES.

Our Town’s history goes back much further than its 1977 incorporation. Archaeologists have discovered evidence of more than 4,000 years of human occupation in what is now known as Marana. Native Americans, European settlers and some of the earliest Americans lived in or passed through Southern Arizona. When the railroad put the community on the map in the 1800s, it gained a name: Marana, meaning thicket. These days, Marana is synonymous with quality of life in the Sonoran Desert. Actually, it’s been that way for thousands of years.

The residential housing market is booming on Tucson’s north side, with Marana and Oro Valley leading the way.

“We’re growing, people,” Honea said during the town’s groundbreaking ceremony for their new police facility. The town’s growth was a major reason they pursued the construction of a new police station.

Marana Unified School District

Partners in Education

The Partners In Education program was developed to encourage and establish strong relationships between the community and the Marana Unified School District. The program provides valuable educational experiences for students and opportunities for businesses and community members to become involved in education.

MUSD is a one-to-one district!
Marana High School is working hard to provide hotspots on buses and for students without internet access at home. A hotspot with 15 access points costs close to $200 per year. However, for every $100 donated, Marana High School and its school organizations will work to match it so all students will have the opportunity to connect.

Now through October 31, please consider sponsoring a hotspot to support MHS students today!

Checks should be written out to
Marana High School (c/o David Mandel)
or Marana High School PTO (c/o President Sara Bauer).
