Kathy Bell – Team Lizzie Bell
When parents are informed that their child has a serious illness or life-altering condition, it can feel overwhelming, like a "deer in headlights" moment. Acceptance of the diagnosis is crucial for empowering the family to move forward. Team Lizzie Bell (TLB) was founded in response to these challenging moments, aiming to support families with medically fragile children inspired by Lizzie's own experiences.
For 21 years, TLB has run three main campaigns:
1.Medical Journey Support: Children facing severe health challenges still need to experience the joy of being kids. TLB ensures that toys and teen items are available in every clinic and hospital space to provide comfort and hope. Thousands of toys are needed year-round, and specific items are often required to cater to individual needs.
2.Blood Donations: Medically fragile children often need blood and blood products, which cannot be bought but must be donated. Lizzie herself needed blood every two weeks until she received a marrow transplant. Encouraging blood donations is vital; even one donation per year can significantly bolster the blood supply for those in need.
3."94 and MORE!": Named after Lizzie's birth year, this initiative responds to urgent pediatric needs, often requiring swift financial support. TLB aims to have at least $100K ready to address immediate challenges that arise in pediatric care.
TLB calls for community involvement through blood drives and toy donations. Business sponsorships are also encouraged to support the ongoing journey of aiding fragile children. By joining TLB's efforts, individuals and organizations can make a significant difference in the lives of children and their families.
